  13N-Ammonia
13N-Ammonia has been proved to be a good indicator of myocardial blood flow and a reflection of metabolic integrity. Metabolic trapping of 13N-ammonia in brain and myocardium occurs primarily via the glutamate-glutamine pathway. 13N-ammonia has been used extensively for the assessment of myocardial perfusion with PET. This tracer exhibits high, single-pass extraction by the myocardium and relatively prolonged retention in the heart. 13N- ammonia provides extremely high-quality images of the myocardium in most cases.
